These naturally dyed egg seed bombs are our favorite spring tradition: beautiful on the table, even better in the garden. Here’s how to make them: Start by cracking your eggs near the top, rinsing them out, and letting them dry completely. Save those shells—you’re going to turn them into something beautiful. To create your natural dyes, simmer your dye ingredients in water over low heat for about 15 minutes. Strain out the solids, then measure the remaining liquid. For every cup, stir in 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to help set the color. Some of our favorite natural dye options: avocado skins for blush pink onion skins for coppery orange or soft pink beets for rosy red turmeric for golden yellow red cabbage for purple or blue (pH can shift the shade) Once the shells are dry, soak them in the dye until the color looks right to you, then let them dry again. Fill each eggshell with a pinch of seeds—wildflowers from Park Seed are a favorite for this. Cut a square of tissue paper slightly larger than the eggshell’s opening and glue it in place to seal everything inside. To plant, either toss the sealed shell into hard-to-reach spots in the garden, or gently crush it in your hand and scatter the contents into the soil. After a good rain—or with regular watering—you’ll see the first sprouts in just a few weeks. Zero waste. All bloom. And a whole new reason to dye eggs this season.

Zinnias grow fast, bloom like crazy, and don’t ask for much—just sun, warm soil, and a little water. If you start them now, you’ll have armfuls of blooms by early summer. They’re perfect for pollinators, great for cutting, and honestly? Once they get going, it’s hard to stop staring at them. Start a few seeds and thank yourself in June.

If your seed trays are still going strong, you’re right on track. April is prime time to start heat-loving crops indoors—especially if you’re waiting on the last frost. Tomatoes, peppers, melons, and more all benefit from a head start now, so they’re ready to thrive once the soil warms up. Even in warmer zones, it’s your last call to start certain summer staples before the heat really kicks in. Save this list to see what’s worth starting in your zone this month.

Soil’s warming, days are longer, and it finally feels like gardening season. April is a great time to direct sow cool-weather veggies and early flowers—especially if you’re in a northern zone. In warmer zones, you’re diving into full planting mode. Save this post and check your zone for what to sow now.

Breaking news!!! Your plants can get sunburned, no sunscreen required. ☀️🚫 If you take seedlings straight from cozy indoor life to full sun, they might end up looking a little… crispy. 🌿🔥 The solution? Hardening off! Start by introducing them to dappled shade for a few hours a day, gradually increasing sun exposure over a week or two. Bonus points if you do it on calm, overcast days to ease the transition. 🌤️ Other pro tips: 🌱 Water in the morning to keep plants hydrated. 🌱 Use row covers or shade cloth for extra protection. 🌱 Avoid transplanting during peak heat. Slow and steady wins the gardening race! 🏆 Who else has accidentally given their plants a sunburn before? (No judgment, we’ve all been there!) #ParkSeed #GardenTips #HardeningOff #gardening #letsgrowsomethinggood #growyourownfood

This is your sign to build a tipi for your peas! 🫛⛺️ Plant them now, and in a couple of months, you’ll have a sweet little fairy fort made of climbing vines, blooming flowers, and crisp pea pods. 🥹✨ In the South and warmer zones (8-10), you can get those seeds in the ground now. In cooler zones (5-7), aim for 4–6 weeks before your last frost. It’s the perfect early spring project to kick off the season with a little whimsy and a lot of peas. 🫛✨ #ParkSeed #GrowSomethingMagical #PeaTipi #Beginnergardening

Cold-climate gardeners—whether you’re in the Midwest, Northeast, or anywhere spring is just barely starting—it’s finally time to start your tomatoes indoors. If you’ve already started yours, great. If you haven’t? No stress. You’re still right on time. Tomatoes need about 6–8 weeks indoors before they’re ready to transplant outside, and that countdown starts now for many northern regions. Keep them warm (a heat mat helps), give them plenty of light, and keep the air moving to grow strong, healthy seedlings. This is also a great time to start other heat-loving crops like peppers, eggplant, and basil—plus cool-friendly flowers like snapdragons and calendula. Need seed inspo? A few Park Seed favorites: 🍅 Park’s Whopper CR Improved – juicy, fast-growing, and dependable 🍅 Juliet Grape – sweet, crack-resistant, and perfect for snacking 🍅 Brandywine Red – an heirloom classic with unbeatable flavor Still chilly out? Perfect. Grab your seed trays or Bio Dome and get growing.

Still buying those plastic salad cartons every week? 🥬 Skip the store and grow your own lettuce instead—it’s cheaper, fresher, and honestly way more satisfying. Lettuce grows fast. From transplant size, you’ll be picking leaves in about 2 weeks. Starting from seed? Expect your first harvest in just 3–4 weeks. Now’s the perfect time to plant: 🌱 In warm climates, direct sow lettuce seeds outdoors. 🌿 In cool climates, start lettuce seeds indoors under grow lights or on a sunny windowsill. You can grow lettuce in raised beds, containers, window boxes, or tucked right into your flower garden. It’s one of the easiest vegetables to grow at home—and it doesn’t take much space. Some of our top lettuce seed picks for gardeners: 🥗 Mini Romaine Blend Lettuce Seeds 🧈 Buttercrunch Lettuce Seeds 🌱 Micro Mini Greens Lettuce Seeds 🥬 Salad Bowl Mix Organic Greens Seeds Save money, reduce waste, and grow your own salad greens at home this season.

Edible flowers! A simple way to add beauty, flavor, and function to your garden and your plate. We love them because they do it all. In the garden, they attract pollinators, deter pests, and add a pop of color to your space. In the kitchen, they turn even the simplest meals into something special—whether sprinkled over a salad, infused into syrups, or used as a delicate garnish. The best part? Many edible flowers are easy to grow from seed. Here are a few to start with: - Pansies & Violas – Mildly sweet and perfect for decorating baked goods or tossing into salads. - Nasturtiums – Peppery and vibrant, great for salads and pest control in the garden. - Calendula – A powerhouse bloom with edible petals that add color to dishes and have soothing properties. - Borage – Cucumber-flavored blue flowers that pollinators love. - Chamomile – Delicate, daisy-like flowers perfect for tea and soothing the garden soil. - Marigolds – Citrusy and slightly spicy, these blooms add bold color to both gardens and meals. If you’re not growing edible flowers yet, consider this your sign to start. They’re an easy way to bring beauty and function to your garden while adding something special to your meals.

Great quality every time thus far. I have been purchasing seeds from Parks Seeds for three years.

I purchased rudbeckia, impatiens and petunias seeds. With my indoor setup I have had a very good germination rate, somewhere between 80 - 90%. Highly recommend and will purchase again.

I've never been disappointed with Park Seeds products and their Giant Exhibitions are GORGEOUS! While growing they are fragile and take a bit over 2 months to be ready to plant. They can be indoor or outdoor plants - I have all mine inside as decor.

The price you agree to pay when you checkout is not the final price. They do not tell you this in advance. They raised the price after checkout and when I called to ask about it, they were incredibly rude. Too many other quality seed distributors to put up with this.
