Alright I’m going to let you in on all my underwater photography secrets so be sure to save this post
Firstly get yourself a SeaPal case for your phone by @jobyinc and make sure you pair it with the dome so you can get those awesome over under shots.
Cameras on our phones these days are so good and this case allows you to see what you’re shooting on a massive screen vs. most action cameras small displays.
When shooting both video and photo on your phone make sure you shoot in .5 and get nice and close to your subject. This allows your camera to focus on both the top and bottom as well as pick up as much color as possible.
Speaking of color, you loose colors fast underwater, starting with the colors red/orange so the closer you are to the surface the more of these colors you will see but don’t worry you can correct a lot of this in post production.
Editing. This is where you can really take your underwater shots to the next level! I edit all my images in Lightroom and all video in InShot but there are lots of video editing apps to choose from. When editing underwater you want to bring back as much of those lost colors as possible. I do this by sliding the purple tint right up and selecting the subject (or fish or coral) and dragging the saturation of the orange tones up. You’ll need to mess around and find your style but these two steps are a great starting spot.

It’s no secret that I love capturing the underwater world and we get asked a lot what camera gear we use.
We shoot all our underwater content on our I phone using the Sea Pal case by Joby and we pair it with the dome so we can get those awesome 50/50 shots.
Honestly I have been shooting with this set up for a few years now and absolutely LOVE it. The best part is that most waterproof action cams only have a small screen making it hard to know what you are shooting but the Sea Pal allows you to view on your entire phone screen which is a game changer. (Also works for non i phone phones)
