Every order I've ever made from this company has been incredible. With a general catalogue that spans inspiration from role play game character sheets, to poetry, to diverse religious practices, to Shakespeare and other literary works, to all things gothic and dark, to foods... whatever your scent preferences may be, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has something for you. Because the oils are pure fragrance, a little goes a long, long way - a 5ml bottle may not seem like much, but they'll likely last you years. As a tiny company that specialises in handcrafted scents, order turnaround time can be lengthy - this isn't a conglomerate that's flogging its people for profit - so plan for a minimum of a 2 month lead time before expecting to receive your order (and it should go without saying that delays with the postal system in the US is completely out of their control). A final note: this is a company that is deeply invested in the beliefs and ethos of its founders, and heavily invested in being a company that gives back to its community, political causes, and the greater good through activism and donations. If you don't want politics in your perfume, this won't be the perfume company for you - and makes it a company I will go out of my way to shop with.Less

I have been a regular customer of BPAL (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) since the very beginning of 2006. The perfumer has an amazing ability to blend perfume oils that range from the classical to the unusual. Her sense of humor and generosity comes through in not only the names of her creations but the many charitable causes that the company supports. There has always been a wait to receive my purchases (often 3 to 4 weeks) but the wait is more than worth it for the lovely products I always receive. Customer service couldn't be more attentive and helpful when needed. This small company has been in the midst of not only trying to survive during a global pandemic, but over the last several months has uprooted their family and business and is relocating across country from LA to Philadelphia. Don't be disheartened if scents go out of stock more frequently than they used to. There is every hope that once their production building is back up and running that we will see not only the return of several out of stock favorites, but additional new creations and also the return of beloved products like hair glosses, bath oils, and room and linen sprays. I'm just a super long time customer of a wonderful company who loves to smell good and hear the many compliments that I receive, especially when wearing my very favorite perfume, Snake Oil.Less
