Everyone’s got their own list of things they bring onboard, so here’s mine. With boating season right around the corner, it’s a good time to get things ready. Click the link in our bio to see the full list available for purchase at @westmarine
USCG Required:
-One personal flotation device (in good condition) for each person on board
-Type 4 (Throwable)
-Flares or USCG-approved electronic flares (ACR has some great options)
-The correct number of approved fire extinguishers (based on the size of the boat)
-A sound-making device (whistle or horn)
-Working running lights
Not USCG Required (but highly recommended):
-EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) – @acrartex has great options
-@garminmarine inReach: You can send and receive messages, track your location, and initiate an SOS in emergency situations in areas without cell service
-A good flashlight for running early mornings or at night (don’t blind other boaters)
-A headlamp for fixing things in the dark
-Rubber mallet (trust me, you don’t want to break something expensive)
-Duct tape comes in clutch 99.9% of the time when you need it
-Plenty of food and water, just in case
-A good trauma kit (ours will be back in stock soon). If you don’t invest, consider at least adding a tourniquet
-Tool Kit/Survival Kit: I keep mine all together in one Pelican case. Extra parts are included (hose clamps, plugs, etc.) A big flat head helps when you’re hydraulic tilt/trip ever fails

Order product online. Ships to the store and I pick up Monday or Tuesday when it arrives. Most unique items are all online and just need to be ordered.
